Enhancing Community Transport

Brimbank’s Community Transport Service is Evolving

Council is committed to continuously improving our services to ensure they are accessible and inclusive and meet the evolving needs of the community. Through a recent review of the Community Transport service Council has explored opportunities to maximise the reach and utilisation of the service to support more of the Brimbank community including those experiencing isolation and transport disadvantage.

Driven by the want to deliver a fair, inclusive, sustainable and effective Community Transport service, and informed by consultation with the community, at the Council meeting on 19 August 2025, Brimbank City Council resolved to modify the Community Transport service to increase the access and reach of the service to targeted Brimbank communities.

Through this decision, Council will be able to deliver a fairer, more inclusive and sustainable Community Transport service that facilitates access to Council facilities, supports participation in council programs and services and reduces social isolation in alignment with what we heard from the community during our recent consultation.

We will be transitioning our community transport service to focus on these community transport options:

  • Scheduled Transport

    • Scheduled independent shopping
    • Scheduled transport to forums and committees facilitated in partnership with Brimbank City Council
  • Ad-hoc transport

    • Ad-hoc transport to Brimbank City Council events, services and programs that support social inclusion and participation
    • Ad-hoc Council transport to Brimbank facilities
  • Community group transport

    • Making available for hire Brimbank buses and drivers for half and full day outings for identified groups

Consultation Process

In June 2024 Council decided to divest from Commonwealth and State Government funded aged care and disability services in favour of delivering a broad range of services that better support Brimbank’s aged and disability community members.

Council committed to continue to provide Community Transport and is exploring opportunities to broaden the service’s impact, to strengthen social connection and community participation.

We want to know what is important to you. Please complete the online survey below or come to one of our workshops (to be held on 18th, 19th and 20th March 2025) and help us learn what services you would like us to think about as we change our current community transport service.

We are collecting your feedback anonymously. If you choose to provide any personal information, the information collected will:

  • be used to enable us to conduct this consultation, and will only be used for this purpose
  • not be shared with any other person unless required by law
