Social and affordable housing is an important part of the housing system, particularly for those unable to access the private market. Research commissioned by Council estimates a shortfall of more than 4,000 social and affordable housing dwellings in Brimbank.

The Draft Position Statement on Social and Affordable Housing will guide Council’s efforts to encourage and support increased supply of social and affordable housing. It outlines the various roles that Council can play and the pathways it may pursue to address the shortfall in supply.
