Social and affordable housing is an important part of the housing system. Particularly for those unable to access the private market. Research commissioned by Council estimates a shortfall of more than 4,000 social and affordable housing dwellings in Brimbank.

The Draft Position Statement on Social and Affordable Housing will:

• guide our efforts to encourage and support increased supply of social and affordable housing
• outline the roles that Council has and the pathways it may pursue to address the shortfall in supply.
