About

The purpose of this policy is:

  • to clearly define Council and community group responsibilities towards the capital development of Council owned or managed community facilities;
  • to ensure efficient and effective use of Council and community resources to maximise the capital development and
  • to maximise use of Council community facilities in a way that is safe and meets Council standards.

Any built facility that is Council-owned or managed and is used by the community. Such as:

  • Community Halls
  • Guide Halls
  • Scout Halls
  • Senior Citizens Centres
  • Sports Pavilions and Reserves
  • Neighbourhood Houses
  • Community Centres
  • Changing and/or improving a facility through replacement or new infrastructure.
  • Update to new policy format and removal of Major Policy status following expiration of the Governance (Major Policy Consultation) Local Law 3.
  • Removal of Council funded minor capital development category as this budget is no longer available.
  • Inclusion of more information regarding how Council may oversee proposed projects.
  • Changes to reflect learnings since implementation of the original Policy.
  • Updating of associated Guidelines to reflect updates made to the Policy.
  • Inclusion of Gender Impact Assessment recommendations.
