Brimbank City Council has a significant presence and connection to kindergarten. Council owns kindergarten buildings and invests in new and expanded kindergarten facilities.

The Victorian Government has recently introduced major changes to kindergarten through its Best Start Best Life reforms. This includes:

  • Making three- and four-year-old kindergarten free, starting in 2023.
  • The introduction of universal access to 15 hours of three-year-old Kindergarten
  • the expansion of four-year-old kindergarten from 15 hours to 30 hours of four-year-old Pre-Prep by 2036

In response to increased kindergarten hours for Victorian children, Brimbank City Council has entered into a Building Blocks Partnership Agreements with the Victorian Government. The partnership identifies strategic future infrastructure projects and both parties work together to provide more funded kindergarten places.
