Our draft LGBTQIA+ Action Plan 2023-2027 aims to create a safe and inclusive community. It values all people and the diversity they bring through their:

  • sexualities
  • genders
  • ages
  • ethnicities
  • cultures, and
  • abilities.

It is important that we support, connect and empower our LGBTQIA+ identifying community.

To do this, Council's role needs to be well defined and realistic. We need to ensure our services, programs and events are supportive and inclusive. And address injustice and social inequality.

That's why we have created the draft LGBTQIA+ Action Plan, and we invite you to have a read and tell us what you think.

Action Plan Priorities

We asked our community what we need to prioritise to ensure they are:

  • included
  • empowered
  • safe, and
  • supported.

From their feedback, we developed these four key priorities:

  • Health and Wellbeing

    • Strengthening social cohesion and connectedness
    • Enabling greater understanding and awareness of the LGBTQIA+ identifying community
  • Safety and Safe Places

    • Improving the quality of standards and practices
    • Building strong systems and partnerships
  • Inclusion and Empowerment

    • Encouraging leadership and participation opportunities
    • Celebrating and recognising contributions
  • Organisational Leadership and Advocacy

    • Understanding the value of data collection
    • Fostering a diverse, respectful and inclusive organisational culture

Feedback

We value the contributions and perspectives of all community members.
