In Victoria there are rules for how we name our roads, parks and points of interest. Geographic Names Victoria handles these rules. They are called the Naming Rules.

Geographic Names Victoria updated the Naming Rules in 2022. Now we are updating our Place Naming Policy to match the new rules.

We also want to make it easier for our community to provide feedback on place names.

This will influence how we name roads, parks and localities in the future. We've written the updated draft Place Naming Policy 2023 and invite you to read it.
