About the consultation

• What is pre-budget consultation about?

• Before every financial year, we set a total budget amount based on what we plan to deliver.

  To ensure we deliver programs, services, events and facilities that meet your needs, we are seeking your input to inform the key priorities for the Annual Budget 2023-2024.

  We want you to have a say on what you think our priorities should be and help shape the budget and future spending needs in the community.

• Why budget consultation is important?

• Like many Councils, Brimbank faces significant funding pressures in a rate-capped environment, so planning future spending for our community is critical.

  We want to ensure that what matters to our community is being considered when we’re planning the next annual budget.

• How do I provide feedback?

• Our budget covers a range of important areas including:

  • keeping our city safe
  • improving our environment
  • building our city, parks and open spaces
  • maintaining public facilities and
  • supporting health and wellbeing.

  Feedback can be provided by ranking the following key Council priority areas:

  • Wellbeing and belonging - Responsive services that support mental and physical wellbeing
  • Pride and participation - Community and cultural connections built through social and artistic expression
  • Liveable and connected - Inviting and liveable spaces and facilities, connected so people can get around
  • Sustainable and green - Protect natural environments for current and future generations
  • Growing and transforming - Optimise community opportunities through infrastructure innovation and investment
  • Earning and learning - Everyone has access to education, training and lifelong learning to support their aspirations
• What are the different ways I can have a say?

• There are several ways you can have your say on the budget consultation, including:

  1. Online survey on this page
  2. Postage-paid postcards – fill in a postage-paid postcard available at Council customer service centres, neighbourhood houses, libraries, leisure centres
  3. Online interactive community meeting – Thursday 6 October 5.30pm-6.30pm.
  4. Face to face - drop by any of the four community sessions held around Brimbank. See Key dates on this page
• When is Council consulting?

• The consultation is open between Friday 9 September and Monday 10 October 2022.

• When will I know what was successful during this consultation?

• An update on the outcomes of the consultation will be published on this page in late 2022.
