The upgrade of the playground and picnic area has been rescheduled to enable the construction of the Dempster Park Children’s and Community Centre upgrades to occur first. This will ensure that landscaping and new park facilities are not damaged throughout the building’s construction period.

The new playground and picnic area is now expected to be constructed in 2028.

The original Suburban Park Upgrade Concept Design (2023) is currently being updated to align with the Children’s and Community Centre, reflect community feedback and protect native vegetation found on site.

After careful consideration, Council’s investment will focus on creating a larger, Suburban level playground and park, rather than expand into the Sunshine College land. Facilities will include a new larger playground, picnic area, basketball court, fitness equipment, circuit pathways and plantings.
