We received 4 applications to be part of the Sydenham Park Consultative Committee. The Selection Panel reviewed and assessed all applications and selected 3 preferred candidates. Council approved the proposed candidates on Tuesday 17 October 2023.

We also sought an Expression of Interest for the role of an Independent Chair of the Committee. The criteria for this role included:

• previous experience in design and/or park management
• demonstrated experience building strong relationships with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups.

We are pleased to announce Dr David Jones has been appointed as the Independent Chair. David is a Professor at Monash University’s Monash Indigenous Studies Centre. He is a qualified urban and regional planning and landscape architect. His previous experience includes:

• Head of School of Architecture,
• Landscape Architecture & Urban Design at The University of Adelaide
• Professor of Planning & Landscape Architecture at Deakin University.
